Why call Larry J. Denny?
During law school, Larry J. Denny was a Deputy Clerk in the U.S. Court of Appeals 6th Circuit in Cincinnati and was an intern with the Montgomery County Public Defenders Office handling criminal appeals. Following graduation from law school, he opened his private law practice and handled criminal trials and appeals. He has argued Death penalty cases both at trial and before the Ohio Supreme Court. His focus on being well trained and prepared for each case has led him to seek additional training and certifications in the DUI defense area. In 1995 he completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations (NHTSA) DUI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Course in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1998 he completed the National Patent Analytical Systems approved course Certificate in the BAC DataMaster Alcohol Breath Testing Machine in South Carolina. In 2001 he completed the NHTSA Instructors Course in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing in Nashville, Tennessee. Throughout this time period he has continued to be a guest lecturer and author at seminars on various aspects of DUI Defense and Criminal Law. He also has been an Adjunct Professor Of Law at the University of Dayton Law School on Scientific Evidence in Criminal Law. He attended the National College for DUI Defense in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1998 and 2000 and is now a member of the College.
In addition to representing clients in DUI Defense cases, Mr. Denny has successfully handled criminal defense cases in Death Penalty Homicide, Antitrust, Environmental, Banking, Narcotics and other high profile criminal defense matters. Some of his reported DUI cases include State v Heinrichs, 46 O App3d 63; State v Shepard, 2002 O App LEXIS 1535, 2ND Dist; and State v Pelfrey, Greene App No 2001-CA-127, 07-05-02.
Mr. Denny has also testified as an expert witness on proper administration of field sobriety tests in various Courts in Warren and Montgomery County Courts.
